Serving With Distinction
Have you ever saved an old wine or liquor bottle just because it was lovely? The manufacturers work hard to create a special look to their bottles and some are truly artistic creations. Then you just throw it away. Sometimes it’s too hard.
Now you can save that bottle from the recycling bin by having it made into a slumped serving tray. Slumped glass trays are made from glass bottles or jars that have been heated in a kiln from room temperature to a temperature high enough to cause the glass to soften and slump (sag). The outcome is a pretty serving piece for cheese, nuts, sushi or even a spoon rest or a change collector.
These pieces also make a unique and personalized gift. If you know that your friend likes a certain wine, soda, or liquor, you can have a personalized slumped glass tray made for them.
The requirement is that the art be painted or etched onto the glass not come from a label. Kate’s Crafts will then transform your bottle into a tray. You can also purchase slumped glass trays at art and crafts fairs and online.
