Home Planetariums Bring The Night Sky Inside

This thing is for kids, but it's really cool no matter what age you are. It's good for quiet times with a loved one, kid or adult, and can be used instead of candles to set a quiet mood.

The Star Theatre 2 Home Planetarium is a little portable planetarium that transforms the walls and ceiling of any room to the night sky. Can you imagine setting it up for a date with your significant other and telling stories about all the interesting things that happen on faraway worlds? Could you picture holding your kid while you show him or her the stars and talk about shooting stars or constellations?

Be careful, though. If you get something this cool for your kid, you might find yourself having to spring for a telescope and spending some evenings gazing at the real thing. Here's what it does.

It projects the night sky for any time of the year, even down to the date and hour and in the right direction. This little planetarium has a set of dials that will allow you to locate and project the visible planets for any time of year. If your kid likes science fiction, she will love being able to set the coordinates, as if he or she was a character from a book.

You can even send comets, including the most famous on– Halley's Comet – streaking across the sky. You can detach the constellation and use the little gizmo outside as a 3D, glow-in-the-dark star map. How cool is that?

Don't freak out, though. If you think you are going to have to learn a lot so that you can take your loved ones or friends through a realistic tour. This item comes with a CD that will do that for you.

The planetarium needs five AAA batteries, which are not included.
