Famous Poets Read Their Poems
The concept of this book and accompanying CDs is pretty straight forward - great poets of the last century reading their own work.
The collection of poets is VERY impressive: Robert Browning, Gertrude Stein, Walt Whitman, William Butler Yeats, Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot, Dorothy Parker, Langston Hughes, Dylan Thomas, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Frost, Carl Sandburg - to name just a few.
The sound quality is uneven and sometimes the poets themselves are not the best interpreters of their own work. Nevertheless, it IS fascinating.
The book has a chapter dedicated to each poet that includes a biography, essay and the poems that are on the cd.
This would make a very special gift for anyone who loves poetry.
