An Unusual iPod Accessory Gift Idea
When I first stumbled across this item, I thought it was pretty dumb. I couldn’t imagine why anyone would want to disguise their iPod in a mint tin. But then I flashed back to my days in college: I remembered the time by scientific calculator was stolen. I don’t know how. I just set it down, went to grab a paper clip, and returned to find it missing. I was anything but pleased. Suddenly the mint tin made sense.
I watch all the local high school kids pour out of the doors at 3:00 each day. They all fumble with their cell phones and iPods, totally oblivious to the world around them. Who pays for these luxuries? Who allows them to walk out the door with them each morning?
Reality sets in: You can tell your kid NOT to bring their iPod to school. You can tell them until you’re blue in the face! At some point, though, it’s very likely that their iPod will be snuck into school (at least once). If it’s left on a lunch table or a desk unattended, the chances of it being stolen are very high.
If young people are responsible with their items, they probably won’t be stolen whether they’re in a mint case or not. On the other hand, an iPod disguise may come in handy for the forgetful kid that leaves their belongings all over the place. As the web states: "disguise it as something else that isn’t worth stealing".
Nevertheless, this is a very unique gift that may actually prevent a theft from occurring. If an iPod is stored in the tin when it’s not in use, it will protect is from normal wear and tear around the house.
